Bearings
Before the business can be aligned, the leader has to be.
BEARINGS is where the client establishes exactly where they stand, instead of guessing at what's driving the drift.
Core question · Where do I actually stand, and how did I get here?
What is BEARINGS?
BEARINGS is the personal orientation framework that runs before, and alongside, any business work. It moves through eight parts: Baseline, Experiences, Awareness, Release, Identity, Name the Horizon, Grounding, and Set Course. It helps a founder establish exactly where they stand, and it stays with you rather than closing out once.

Before the systems, the person carrying all of it.
The framework
Eight movements. Yours to revisit.
Baseline
Establish the current emotional, mental, relational, and leadership position, without minimizing or performing.
Experiences
Identify the formative experiences, conditioning, and survival patterns that shaped where you stand today.
Awareness
Name the triggers, beliefs, behaviors, defenses, and blind spots that keep repeating.
Release
Separate what happened from the meaning attached to it. Let go of what has been carried and repeated.
Identity
Reconstruct identity around values, agency, strengths, boundaries, and chosen principles.
Name the Horizon
Define what's now visible and possible once you're leading from identity instead of reaction.
Grounding
Build the practices, boundaries, and disciplines that keep you steady as conditions change.
Set Course
Translate self-knowledge into deliberate movement: choices, commitments, and leadership behavior.
Phase one questions
Readiness is the result.
Where am I actually?
What brought me here?
What am I carrying now?
Am I leading from identity or from reaction?
BEARINGS often begins before ANCHOR, because it's hard to stay aligned if you haven't first established where you stand. But it doesn't close out the way a business phase does. It keeps running alongside whatever comes next.

Founder coaching →Where this was tested
June 2026. A room I almost walked out of.
At the summit, a man I had never met in person spent the day telling anyone who would listen that I was insignificant and unworthy. He said it in front of other people, more than once.
My old instinct was already moving. Pack the bag, get to the car, be gone before anyone notices. I took a breath instead and named where I actually was: rattled, angry, and about to run on autopilot.
I know exactly where that instinct comes from. It's older than this room, built long before I had any say in it, and it still fires first. I caught it as it was happening this time. Same trigger, same old script: leave before anyone can leave first.
I let go of needing to win an argument on his terms, since there was nothing real there to argue with. Let go of fighting a persona instead of a person. Underneath the urge to run was someone steady already. I stayed being him instead of becoming the man he was describing.
I could see the rest of the day two ways. One where I left and confirmed the story. One where I stayed and wrote a different ending. I named the second one before I moved. Then I turned back toward the room, one decision at a time.
That is why BEARINGS exists as eight movements and not as encouragement. I have used it on myself, in public, on a day when it would have been easier to leave.
The eight movements, that day
Baseline
Named exactly where I was: rattled, and about to bolt.
Experiences
Recognized the old pattern driving the urge to run.
Awareness
Caught the reflex before it took over.
Release
Let go of fighting a persona on hostile terms.
Identity
Stayed the person I actually am, not the one being described.
Name the Horizon
Chose the ending I wanted before I moved.
Grounding
Turned back toward the room, one decision at a time.
Set Course
Gave the rest of the day to a better purpose.

What is BEARINGS?
BEARINGS is the personal orientation framework that runs before, and alongside, any business work. It moves through eight parts: Baseline, Experiences, Awareness, Release, Identity, Name the Horizon, Grounding, and Set Course. It helps a founder establish exactly where they stand before deciding where to go, and it stays with you rather than closing out once you finish it. It leaves you with readiness.
Who is BEARINGS for?
Founders, owners, and executive leaders who are competent on paper but running on urgency: the person who keeps rebuilding the same bottleneck, cannot delegate without rework, or has grown a business that no longer resembles the life it was supposed to fund. If you want to know where you actually stand before you add more speed, this is built for you.
What do you actually get from BEARINGS?
A written leadership pattern map (what triggers the drift and how it shows), a decision and boundary standard you can hold under pressure, a delegation and capacity plan tied to real hours, and one-to-one founder coaching sessions that hold the work in place. What you walk away with is a leader who has gathered their bearings, not a motivational plan.
What diagnostic questions does BEARINGS answer?
Where do I actually stand right now? What experiences brought me to this pattern? What am I carrying that I've stopped noticing? What am I no longer willing to carry? Who am I underneath what happened to me? What future can I actually see for myself? What will keep me steady as things change? What do I do next?

Before the vessel, the captain.
Gather your bearings.
The work begins with knowing where you stand, not with a productivity plan.
